Every so often, at the beginning of a season or a theme, we like to change up, reorganize, declutter the Table Time basket, shelf and the two play shelves as well!!
We try to make the items relevant to the season or to the theme we are "studying".
The basket contains apple counting cards, woodland animal finger puppets, home-made wood lacing beads, as well as scissors, a lacing board, our toothpick jar, a small chalkboard, and more.
In the jars, we switched out the sea shells for wooden acorns, switched the magnet discovery jar for fallish beanbags, made a jar of fall-colored wooden blocks, and kept out the popular "pinterest inspired" velcro craft sticks and the wooden nesting owls.
Ahhhhh .... I love our shelves... when they are neat and tidy!
I thought I'd take you on a little "tour" of just one day of our TableTime activities!
While the children are having free play with the shelf toys and the basket of silkies,
I set out that day's TableTime activities!
Small chalkboard to draw, practice letters... whatever they want to do!
This week we read Brown Bear, Brown Bear.
Scissors and index cards to practice cutting skills.
A jar of fall colored wooden cubes to stack, sort, or use the tongs to pick them up!
Handmade (by us) wooden lacing beads to lace... or stack.
Three months old! How? Sigh.

ReplyDeleteI love those little trays you put everything in. All great ideas to keep them busy!
ReplyDeleteLove those trays too! Where are they from?
DeleteThe trays are from Target Dollar Spot (they cost $2.50 each lol) We got them a couple of months ago, so not sure if they are still available. We used to use red plastic trays but when we saw these black, wooden ones, well... we had to buy them lol
DeleteThe wooden beads are really great!
ReplyDeleteYour shelves and activities are so beautiful! What could wouldn't want to come to the table?
