Enchanted Childhood Preschool ~ Our First Week!

Everyone was excited to be back to school!

It was good to see "old friends" and make "new friends"!

Before classroom time starts we always have free play.

 Classroom Work

Notice the shelves are fairly empty.
In Montessori classrooms you start with just a few items out .
The first week is for learning or relearning those important classroom routines and attitudes.

work rug rolling practice

and after snack clean up practice

Our first week, we looked at the Monet prints in the classroom,
and the children made their own Impressionist-style paintings.
They love saying "Impressionist"!

After snack and Creative Time, if the weather is dreary, we head to the open space of the Living Room, for Wild and Crazy time.  After 15-20 minutes of running, jumping, being "wild and crazy" we settle back down with some yoga!

It was a GOOD first week!!

Each week I join several linky parties! What a fun way to share and learn!

Nesting

Bunny has heard us throw around the word "nesting" over the last couple of weeks.
Getting ready for Miss Mouse to make her arrival has felt very last minute.
Summer daycare kept us busy and we are just now really getting things done.

The other day, after asking what it meant to be nesting and being told it was like how a mama bird gets a nest ready for her eggs ... just like we are getting our home ready for babysister,
Bunny decided to do some nesting of her own.
She stuck with the bird idea.

Little sister helped, of course!

She gathered sticks and twigs and leaves and dry grass from around the yard,
She asked for a little help with the basic forming,

Then she added her own touches.

We looked in some books for reference.
(That was my addition to what was otherwise completely her own idea.)
Then off she went to leave the nest for some lucky birds to find next spring.

Unschooling at it finest, if you ask me.

In Our Kitchen

You never know what we might be "cooking up" in our kitchen!

A new body lotion. salve, oil...
equal parts coconut oil and shea butter, melted and mixed well
then cooled to just warm
add in equal amounts of frankincense, lavender, citrus bliss, and helichrysum
(for 1/2 cup of "lotion" I used 10 drops of each)

lots and lots of kale and spinach
mostly for smoothies, but some for recipes and salads

and yarrow tea
just because the preschool children love to pick it to steep for afternoon "tea"
with honey of course
