My mama had been coveting a wire pendant of a fall tree. She saw one on Etsy and showed me... a few times. hint. hint. Her birthday was coming up. I decided to give it a try.
The Hubs had made me a wire pregnancy necklace...
And I had made a wire "mama and baby nursing" ring,
so I had hopes I would be able to make this for my mama!
I bought the supplies and went to work.
After one fail, I was able to make this necklace in one evening.
She loved it!
Reading? Well other than our Young Mama's Life Group book, just Bunny books!
This one has gorgeous illustrations, perfect for right now!

Nice work! I have a BFA in Metalsmithing, and wire took me awhile to get the hang of too. It can be pretty unforgiving, but it's so malleable! I use to especially love to create wire chains- so easy and gorgeous results . This is one of my favorite books for it, now out of print: Happy creating!
ReplyDeleteDid you mean to link a book?
DeleteDrats, my link disappeared! This book is discontinued but fabulous, "Great Wire Jewelry" by Irene Petersen. You "knit" a larger width chain whose width you then compress by "drawing it down" (pulling it through a series of smaller drilled holes in a wooden block). It's a simple method- I've even taught it to high-schoolers- with sophisticated results.
Deleteyour wire tree necklace is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteand thank you for the book suggestion, will check it out!
It's so pretty!!! Thanks for sharing it on Friday's Nature Table.
