The All Year Round Blog Carnival: Autumn: September 30th

sunnydaytodaymama

It is so much fun to co-host the Autumn Edition of the All Year Round Blog Carnival, hosted by SunnyDayTodayMama.  Every day new ideas, crafts, recipes are being added to the list! Each week, I hope to highlight a few of my favorite ideas!

I really like the autumn seasonal table and the leaf print banner over at Simple Whimsy!

Sunnydaytodaymama has a sweet nature basket!
I imagine Bunny would enjoy having all the fall nature goodies in one basket.

We like to use various methods of painting with our little ones!
Off the Shelf has a sweet apple pie craft that uses both brush painting and apple stamping!

Living Montessori Now offered several cute fall activities,
including this squirrel and hazelnut game.
And you know how much I love squirrels!

I think Bunny, who is dressing as a woods fairy for halloween, would love making some of these fall nature fairies/faeries over at lightly enchanted!

Be sure to check out the entire Autumn Carnival.  You will be inspired, I promise!
Then come back and link up your creations, activities, books, whatever fall ideas you enjoy!
You will always find my link up at the top of my blog, titled

An Enchanted Childhood Playschool ~ The Very Busy Spider

This week we read The Very Busy Spider (Board Book), again by Eric Carle.  We discussed that spiders have eight legs and are NOT insects, but arachnids.  We sang (of course) The Itsy Bitsy Spider.  In addition, we read Up, Up, and Away, a sweet book about the life cycle of spiders.

Monday we did a cute "lacing" project.. it was a lot of fun!

The turned out better than I expected.
Idea for this project came from here!

Not so on Wednesday, though...

At 6:30am, I (NanaKerri) used glue to make spiderwebs on NINE sheets of cardstock. The wet, white webs promised to look great when they dried (and they did).  But guess what... 10:00 came.. time for Art... webs still wet. Really? So with the kids finishing their snacks and expecting "a project" as they like to say, we desperately searched our minds and the craft closet for a solution... brown and black paints applied with q-tips and cotton balls.. (desperate, I tell ya!) The big secret is to act like you know what you are doing!

And since they have eight legs, they are SPIDERS, not ticks like they look like haha!

Thursday we painted wooden spiders I bought at Joann's.... see if you see the problem with these sweet little spiders... but after spending $5 on them I was NOT throwing them out...

Finally Friday, we were able to paint the "glue" spider webs (which had taken over 12 hours to dry).
As the paint dries, the web shows up more and more.  We added a fingerprint spider to each web!

Despite the additional Circle Time, Table Time, and CreativeTime, we still make time to go outside for 1-1.5 hours each morning.  The garden is still a favorite place to visit.  Poppaw John has a 2nd planting of carrots ready for the children, with a third planting just coming up now.

The boys beg for kale.. really!

So another week has flown by.  It was a good week...
full of fun, with a few minor frustrations, plenty of playful learning, and good outside time!

{this moment}

{this moment} - A Friday ritual inspired by SouleMama. A photo capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.

Crafting Along With needle and thREAD

After much debate back and forth, Bunny has decided between the few choices I gave her, and is going to be a fairy for Halloween this year. I am slowly gathering and putting together items for her costume. My only problem was the wings. I detest the wire and panty hose type wings. They get bent out of shape in five minutes flat around here. So after some careful thought, I came up with an idea. I bought thick, stiff interfacing, and some sheer glittery fabric, and sewed up a pretty pair of wings for my little forest fairy. Now I just need to add elastic straps to make them wearable.

In other dress up news, I found myself with some extra leather in my craft closet, and made a little crown.

It is adjustable in the back to accommodate many little head sizes.

A crown suits her well since she thinks she is the queen of the world haha!

Still reading through last week's book!

And LOVING reading through my issues of The Mother Magazine.

Wonderfull (Full of Wonder) Wednesday

Looking for the wonder in everyday life!
I'd love for you to join me on this journey.
If you find wonder along the way, please leave a link in the comments,
so others can share in your wonder!

I am still filled with wonder... four weeks later. I hope the memories hold me until May!

"I love the sea's sounds and the way it reflects the sky.
The colours that shimmer across its surface are unbelievable.
This, combined with the colour of the water over white sand, surprises me every time."
~John Dyer
