I am pretty sure the first strawberries, warm from the garden, are the most wonderfull gift of summer!!

OK they are ONE of the most wonderfull gifts of summer ... there are the beach trips to begin and end summer, and a new baby coming mid summer, and creeks to play in, and lightening bugs to catch...
But for that special moment that very first warm, juicy strawberry can't be beat!!
If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder without any such gift from the fairies, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in” ~ Rachel Carson

Oh, I do miss those strawberry picking trips my family would take in the summers. We lived on Long Island where the fields would be open for picking just a half hour away. We would come back with bushels & bushels and we would eat until our tummies were so full... *sigh* Good times, good times. Your little beauty will remember these first strawberries, I'm sure of it. :)
ReplyDeleteWe've never grown strawberries before, but I bet it is a fun summer gift. I just heard our blueberries are starting to be ready at farms. It's about a month ahead of schedule this year and we can't wait to go pick. Thanks for sharing at the summer bucket list party.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your strawberries and all your wonderful summer posts at the All Year Round Summer Carnival. :)
