It's a WonderFull thing to learn how to whistle with a blade of grass!!
If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder without any such gift from the fairies, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in” ~ Rachel Carson

Where they able to make it work? I used to do this with my boys. The satisfaction on their face the first time they "figured it out" was so cute!
ReplyDeleteArne't they lovely? Those are some great pictures.
ReplyDeleteI remember when my daughter learned to whistle. I think she was five. She was thrilled. We haven't tried the blade of grass, something to add to our 'outdoor list' this weekend.
That's a very tricky thing to learn! Maybe starting young is easier.
ReplyDeleteThis looks so awesome! I would have to try it with my daughter. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Bunny is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing kids enjoying the outdoors with family! I've tried this before, but didn't have much luck. :) Thanks for stopping by my blog! Oh, and that is a wonderful quote from Rachel Carson, too!
ReplyDeleteI never could do that! :) Thanks for stopping by Reading Confetti! I love the Q-tip idea!
ReplyDeleteMy toddler has been experimenting making music with sticks and rocks. When he's a bit older, we can add this too!
ReplyDeleteI love whistling with blades of grass. When my son was little and I taught him how, he thought it was magic- it kind of is! ;)
ReplyDeletei remember the awe of learning to make the grass and acorn caps whistle. to this day i never resist the urge when it strikes to pick up a blade of grass or acorn cap and make some noise :)
ReplyDeleteMy mom taught me how to whistle through a blade of grass. It is a "wonderfull" thing!
ReplyDeleteFound you through Sofia's Ideas :)
Its such a small, simple thing but it really is like "magic" in the eyes of a child. And it feels like magic to us, all over again, as we get to experience it as the adult bringing the wonder to a child.
ReplyDeleteThank you for participating and linking this up to {Magic of the Mundane}!
Cool :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the quote you used, it's very fitting.
Thanks for posting!
I don't think I've ever tried this. Maybe it's not too late to learn! Thank you so much for sharing it with our Spring Carnival. :)
