We have been asked many times to write up our "lesson plans" so others could use them. Honestly, we just spend a little time thinking about how we want the "school year" to look and go from there. We wing-it a lot, doing impromptu things that add to our plans. I am always amazed that anyone would think what we do is worthy of writing down for others to read, but here it goes!
Come join us, at An Enchanted Childhood Playschool, as we continue to work through a letter of the alphabet each week: learning the sound, the ASL sign, the shape, and having all sorts of fun with related activites!
This week, we got back to our Alphabet Study with the Letter X. Goodness, there are not many child-friendly, "x" sounding words beginning with the Letter X. So we did the next best thing and talked about ENDING letters (This falls under "Keep Calm and Pretend This is the Lesson Plan"!) Words like boX and foX came up many times a day. Familiar (naturally!) with Beatrix Potter's Foxy Gentleman, one boy reminded us daily, "Never trust a fox!"
We were lacking in the Artsy Craftsy department this week (Ok the truth: we have a very hard time staying inside to do "art" when the outside is so alluring!) We watercolor painted cardstock with the Letter X on it. And we make these adorable foX tails, as we read the Aesop's Fable called The Fox Without a Tail. We also read Bunny's ABC book.
And now for the Good Stuff!
checking for and finding eggs
finding treasures: dandelions and nuts
totally loving the great outdoors
sharing chalk
hill climbing
swinging
I am linking up over at The Magic Onions, No Time for Flashcards, The Kids Co-Op, For the Kids Friday, and Made by Little Hands where you will find lots of other fun activities!
