Over the weekend I found this beautiful fabric and bought three yards, not knowing what I'd make, but knowing Bunny and I both
needed something made from it! After making six girlie dresses and two dolly dresses, plus a few other little girlie sewing projects in the last two weeks, I decided to try my first ever maternity shirt. Poor Bunny was quite confused that I was not sewing for her!
No pattern. Like always. One afternoon.
I am pretty please with my 1st attempt at a maternity shirt!
And a picture of Bunny--showing off her gray, flannel, "mama-made" dress with pockets!
I love that in most pictures she has her toes curled!

No pattern! Wow! You are talented! I am just starting to sew....I need all the details I can get to make something!! Love your shirt it came out great! And I don't know what is cuter the little dress or the model!! So sweet!!
ReplyDeleteI love your top! And the dress is adorable. Pockets make everything better :) Lovely work.
ReplyDeleteNow that's impressive. I haven't reached the no pattern stage in sewing. I will make my own patterns....based on items I already own. The top is cute and looks comfy. Bunny is adorable as always!
ReplyDeleteNicely done :) I love that you did this patternless :)
ReplyDeleteThe curly toes are precious indeed. Nice try at your first maternity shirt!
ReplyDeleteI always rush my sides with elastic when it comes to maternity things, it makes the belly pops even more!
Very nice!!! I have never sewed anything without a pattern. I am very impressed!!
ReplyDeleteAbout the no pattern thing--It just seems much easier to me to look at clothes I have (or imagine I want lol) and just measure and cut! I may try to ruch the next shirt.. cause as you can tell I need that belly to pop more thehehe
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely in the top you made...without a pattern! Very cool! Did you follow a pattern for your little girl's dress? I really like it.
ReplyDeleteMany dresses ago, I followed a tutorial from Prudent Baby making a long sleeve peasant dress. Since then I just wing it. I added the pockets in since Bunny is obsessed with them!!
DeleteOh man the dress you made for Bunny is so adorable I love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the maternity shirt, but the grey flannel dress....oh my! I want one in my size! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to let us know how you like the book. I haven't bought it (yet), but I'm loving the blog!
ReplyDeleteLove it! And your cutie-patootie daughter. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the maternity shirt! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteWonderful post! You are beautiful with your lovely baby belly and your daughter is adorable! Great job on sewing without a pattern...something that scares me silly. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures! That belly is so wonderful and your daughter looks delightful in her dress.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see something a mama has made for herself! (Well, you and a little somebody else, right?) So wonderful! And sweet, sweet girl in that dress...so natural and comfortable. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm seriously jealous of anyone who can make clothes. This is a skill beyond my understanding lol. I love how your shirt turned out; talk about custom-made!
DeleteOh look at those curls! Adorable! Both pieces of clothing are great. I've been getting back into sewing myself. I love that I get instant gratification from sewing, unlike knitting where it takes me F.O.R.E.V.E.R!
ReplyDeleteso pretty i just love her little face. You did an awesome job hun.
ReplyDeleteHi it's Amy replying from [Amy's] Crafty Shenanigans - you MUST take up quilting! If you can sew like that (amazing top btw) you will LOVE to do improv patchwork. Let me know what you start with :) Ooo what fun!
ReplyDeleteI like your shirt. And your little gril looks adorable.
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting on my blog. :-)

Thanks for commenting on my blog ^_^
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of your skills- The sewing machine is like my nemesis... I especially love Bunny's dress: it is soooo cute!
And believe me, I would have LOVED to have been able to create my own maternity clothes!
Awesome job! And you sure have a curly-headed sweetie there.
ReplyDeleteSo talented you are! Great job! :D
ReplyDeleteLove your top and the little dress, so cute!! I just tried working without a pattern...I need more practice at it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and commenting on my blog. Your sewing projects look great. I am impressed that you are doing it all without a pattern!
ReplyDeleteI am completely in awe of anyone who can sew (and more than a little bit envious) my attempts at sewing have been really dismal. Your projects are fabulous, well done :)
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is beautiful! I can't sew hardly anything without a pattern, except maybe a skirt or curtains. Good job!
ReplyDeleteoh my cuteness, that little grey dress!!! way to go with stitching up yourself a top!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on both the top and the little dress! How are you liking the book so far? I've requested it from our library.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fabric, and I love your maternity shirt, it looks so, so comfy. :)
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with everyone else, awesome top and with no pattern, very cool! I love your daughters dress too. I haven't really ventured into making sewn clothes yet, only knitted, I will have to get onto it!
ReplyDeleteI've not ventured into pocket territory yet... but yes, they are much needed. So many treasures and only two Mama hands to hold them all, and a baby besides! Hmm, maybe you could share your pocket prowess in the future? (smile)
ReplyDelete:) maybe ;)
DeleteSo adorable dress! Your little girl has the greatest curls too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog and commenting on my Cheerful Wreath. :)

Holy cow. You are amazing. And so pretty! Bunny is ADORABLE to the max.
ReplyDeleteCute! And you are so talented for not using a pattern!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I'm a little jealous.. I haven't been able to just wing a shirt without a pattern yet!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call myself a no-pattern kind of girl, but I definitely wing it as I am learning. Yours looks great!
