Crafting On with needle and thREAD

Over the weekend I found this beautiful fabric and bought three yards, not knowing what I'd make, but knowing Bunny and I both needed something made from it!  After making six girlie dresses and two dolly dresses, plus a few other little girlie sewing projects in the last two weeks, I decided to try my first ever maternity shirt. Poor Bunny was quite confused that I was not sewing for her!

No pattern. Like always. One afternoon.

My reading today--Little House in the Suburbs

I am pretty please with my 1st attempt at a maternity shirt!

And a picture of Bunny--showing off her gray, flannel, "mama-made" dress with pockets!
I love that in most pictures she has her toes curled!

I am joning in at needle and thREAD, Keep Calm and Craft On, Creative Friday,  Sundae Scoop Link Party, Make Something Mondays, Homemade By You, Whimsy Wednesday, and WIP Wednesdays.

  3. Now that's impressive. I haven't reached the no pattern stage in sewing. I will make my own patterns....based on items I already own. The top is cute and looks comfy. Bunny is adorable as always!

  5. The curly toes are precious indeed. Nice try at your first maternity shirt!
I always rush my sides with elastic when it comes to maternity things, it makes the belly pops even more!

  7. About the no pattern thing--It just seems much easier to me to look at clothes I have (or imagine I want lol) and just measure and cut! I may try to ruch the next shirt.. cause as you can tell I need that belly to pop more thehehe

  8. You look lovely in the top you made...without a pattern! Very cool! Did you follow a pattern for your little girl's dress? I really like it.

    1. Many dresses ago, I followed a tutorial from Prudent Baby making a long sleeve peasant dress. Since then I just wing it. I added the pockets in since Bunny is obsessed with them!!

  16. It's wonderful to see something a mama has made for herself! (Well, you and a little somebody else, right?) So wonderful! And sweet, sweet girl in that dress...so natural and comfortable. Lovely.

    1. I'm seriously jealous of anyone who can make clothes. This is a skill beyond my understanding lol. I love how your shirt turned out; talk about custom-made!

  17. Oh look at those curls! Adorable! Both pieces of clothing are great. I've been getting back into sewing myself. I love that I get instant gratification from sewing, unlike knitting where it takes me F.O.R.E.V.E.R!

  19. Hi it's Amy replying from [Amy's] Crafty Shenanigans - you MUST take up quilting! If you can sew like that (amazing top btw) you will LOVE to do improv patchwork. Let me know what you start with :) Ooo what fun!

I am so jealous of your skills- The sewing machine is like my nemesis... I especially love Bunny's dress: it is soooo cute!
And believe me, I would have LOVED to have been able to create my own maternity clothes!

  26. I am completely in awe of anyone who can sew (and more than a little bit envious) my attempts at sewing have been really dismal. Your projects are fabulous, well done :)

  31. I have to agree with everyone else, awesome top and with no pattern, very cool! I love your daughters dress too. I haven't really ventured into making sewn clothes yet, only knitted, I will have to get onto it!

  32. I've not ventured into pocket territory yet... but yes, they are much needed. So many treasures and only two Mama hands to hold them all, and a baby besides! Hmm, maybe you could share your pocket prowess in the future? (smile)
