We haven't been reading much this week. Instead, we have been singing. Bunny is quite the lover of music these days. She memorizes songs as fast as I can sing them. Our current favorite is Do Re Mi from The Sound of Music. We watched this movie clip on youtube the other day and I was reminded of my love of matching outfits.
When that song was over, we watched another Sound of Music classic, My Favorite Things.
Notice the curtains?
Same as the outfits!
I had forgotten, in the years since I have seen the movie, that Maria did indeed upcycle!
Inspired, I whipped up matching outfits for my girls.
Wanna guess what I made them out of?
Yup! Curtains!
They look pretty sweet on my favorite things (aka: Bunny and Squirrel)!
Bunny is pleased that her new dress is pink.
Pink is her favorite color, despite my attempt to interest her in other colors.
Squirrely, by the way, is 6 weeks old now.
She is getting big and strong and now weighs 10lbs 8oz.
She adores her papa!
This babymoon has been wonderful.. everything I could have hoped for and so much more.

I so love that movie! Yea for curtains. Your girls look lovely in their curtains.
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you! And... in less than 48 hours I will be at OIB!
DeleteHi, thank you for linking up to the Mommy Brain Mixer! Aww...they look so cute in the new curtain dresses!! I must have seen that movie a hundred times!!
ReplyDeleteme too! It was a fav for family night, when I was growing up!
Deletecute! and so breezy and cool :-)
ReplyDeleteThis reminded me ~ I'd bought my wedding dress used & it wasn't stored properly at all & was basically ruined (in my opinion ;-) so she played dress up in it as she grew up & thought it would be so special to wear it when she actually got married. The entire skirt had to be re-made, and the only fabric we could find that closely matched the sheer sleeves (which were also being half-remade...) was drapery fabric. We both were tickled that she'd be 'roaming about... wearing nothing but some old DRAPES' :-)
here's a pic, if you want to see it http://www.pursuingjoy.blogspot.com/2008/05/presenting.html and here's a poor quality video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6s0SJhIYgyA&feature=autoplay&list=WLA5BB90B3DE1F1A49&playnext=1 (the kiss at 4 min ~ their very first one :-)
thanks for a trip down memory lane!
The dress is very pretty! I love the sleeves. While my 1st kiss was not at the altar, my 1st and only kisses were for The Hubs.
DeleteCurtain dresses! THE best!
ReplyDeleteCUTE too! {So are the girls....}
:-)
Crystelle
That is awesome! And you whipped those up with a 6-week old? I've been trying to knit a scarf for my 3-year-old for weeks and haven't got past casting-on. You're a hero to moms everywhere!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that things are going so well for you all! And I am so glad you got the birth experience that you desired (I went back and read Bunny's story, and what a difference)!
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying watching Squirrely grow!
Thanks for linking up!
Blessings!
