Crafting Along With needle and thREAD

After much debate back and forth, Bunny has decided between the few choices I gave her, and is going to be a fairy for Halloween this year. I am slowly gathering and putting together items for her costume. My only problem was the wings. I detest the wire and panty hose type wings. They get bent out of shape in five minutes flat around here. So after some careful thought, I came up with an idea. I bought thick, stiff interfacing, and some sheer glittery fabric, and sewed up a pretty pair of wings for my little forest fairy. Now I just need to add elastic straps to make them wearable.

In other dress up news, I found myself with some extra leather in my craft closet, and made a little crown.

It is adjustable in the back to accommodate many little head sizes.

A crown suits her well since she thinks she is the queen of the world haha!

Still reading through last week's book!

And LOVING reading through my issues of The Mother Magazine.

  1. Great idea for the crown, but the fairy wings are my personal favorite. :) I've seen tutorials for using wire and sheer fabrics, but my girls are just too rough to handle that design. I think I'll give your concept a try!

  3. I made the wire wings last year for my daughter's birthday... The wire is still the way I first shaped it, but the hose is all strechted up and mostly gone.. Kind of sad. I was thinking of making fabric ones this time, now that I see how great it can look!

    1. It is published in the UK. It helps makes up for Mothering not having a paper magazine!

    1. I don't think it is even a digital magazine. They do have a very active forum, blog, facebook page, etc...
