Despite today's late start, it turned out to be a great day. We went to church as planned. And to Lowe's afterward, to pick up a few things we need to make tree blocks. Then home for Bunny's nap, and to clean up the house. I did so while The Hubs took care of some yard work. Bunny napped longer than expected (a good thing since she was up late last night), and I got a lot done while she did.
When she finally did wake, I went back and laid with her in bed for a bit. We nursed and talked and snuggled as she got fully awake. This is one of the best things about being a mama. It makes my heart smile.
When we did get up from nap, we went outside to check in with The Hubs. He was getting ready to walk up the road and look for some tree block wood. Bunny and I tagged along. While he was hacking away at a sapling, Bunny and I sat down to take a break. She discovered her first mud puddle and loved it!
I myself was/am a major tomboy. Growing up, I used to wish that I was a boy (I mean really, they can pee on trees). My big brother was my best friend. I spent every waking moment following him around doing whatever he did. As soon as I was old enough to walk along holding his hand, he had me in the creek. We were lucky enough to have a creek at each place we moved, throughout my whole childhood. There were only two things that were always the same at every new home. We were together, and in a creek.
In the past few years, I have been able to experience the love of creeks yet again through doing daycare. But I have been waiting for this time to come. When another curly haired tomboy girl would fill my shoes (or creek boots) and love to play in a creek. It is a dream come true. I know it may seem silly, but I don't care. I am a dreamer, and this is my dream. It may be simple, but that is the beauty in it.
After making some Beech Tree Blocks, we ended the day as we always do. Together. Snack, bath, Goodnight Moon, Bible, nursing, and bed. We slept in a big heap. All tangled up in each other's arms. Sweet, deep sleep. An amazing ending to an amazing day.

I love sleeping babies. They are so cute and tomgirls are the best. Boys are kinda whinny!
ReplyDeleteThat is simply beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteGive Bunny a couple more years and she will be outside in nothing but creek boots...lol
