Following our yearly tradition, we started off Halloween week by reading Where the Wild Things Are
! After reading it, and acting out the roaring and gnashing teeth and rolling eyes and showing claws, we headed to the table to make monster masks. We had found some foam monster parts at Target, so after decorating their paper plates with markers, the children then added eyes and teeth and scars and all kinds of important monster parts!

The following day found us with a few inches of snow, thanks to Hurricane Sandy.
The big kids were allowed to do a puzzle by the fire.. very cozy for a winter day.. oh yea October... really?
The children love when we bring snow INSIDE to play with in our red trays!
Wednesday was our little Halloween party. In years past, we took either a walk or a haywagon ride around the neighborhood, dressed in costumes. The weather was not ideal (haha) for such an adventure, so we stayed inside and had a photo op....
wore animal masks...
ate lots of spooooky food...
and painted little gourds.
It was very low key, but nice!
Thursday, we read Five Little Pumpkins
and made cute little fingerprint pumpkins!

We only had two little ones (both one year old) on Friday.
We did managed (Thanks Katie) to do our yearly ghost footprint!
Now we are into November and looking forward to learning about birds, hibernation, and Thanksgiving!
