Project ing

We have been busy lately. Too busy for my taste.
That, on top of us all getting colds, made for a lot of time in the trenches.
Today I climbed out.

I was laying in bed early this morning, debating whether to get an early start or to snooze a little longer, when I realized that I haven't been blogging much lately. When I feel like my plate is too full and something has to go, blogging is it.  However, when I start to feel like I am floundering around without much direction, blogging is my go-to that somehow gets my life back on track. I guess that when I think of what I want to blog about, I remember what I want my life to be about too.

So I got that early start, and I ran with it. I deep cleaned nearly the whole house, caught up on laundry, and still had time to do a "project" with Bunny this afternoon (exciting projects often get replaced with simpler things like coloring, while in the trenches). I had seen this fun idea on Pinterest, but doubted that Bunny had the self control to not turn it into a huge mess. After a morning of her acting incredibly mature, I decided to put a little trust in her.

Bunny typically watches some little kid show during Squirrely's naptime.
{While in my perfect little dream world we wouldn't even own a TV, this is the real world where Papa is gone for 15 hours a day and Bunny gave up naps at 22 months and sometimes I just need little break... And I don't feel bad about that.}

Today she watched The Magic School Bus,
where they go to a bakery to learn about chemistry.
So this experiment seemed to be the perfect fit.

A tray of baking soda, little bowls of vinegar colored with different food coloring,
and a medicine dropper.

She was very impressed with the fizzing and bubbling,
as we talked about what was happening.

We mixed the various colors to create new ones.

Once she began to tire of that (a long time later), the wet concoction became a finger drawing board.
And she never, not once, made any mess!!!
We will definitely being doing this project again soon.
