I am so ready for warm. I have a bad case of spring fever. Though I have made an extra effort to get outside more this winter, with two littles, it is a struggle to get everyone ready and out the door. Only to be met with biting winds and bleak... everything! I feel claustrophobic. I miss warm. I miss green. I miss bare feet on cool grass, dirt under my finger nails, and children playing in my creek.
Basically this...
Thank God we had a nicer day Saturday and spent much of it outside, in the fresh air. However, at the end of it, seeing a forecast of more snow left me longing yet again. So much so that I catch myself fantasizing about moving south, and living near the beach. There is a whole list of things that go along with this fantasy. A large piece of land with less hills, a few farm animals, a nice sized garden, a farm house, and on and on. (Hmm, I just realized I completely described the farm where we lived when I was young... Yes, that... Except near the beach...) As nice as it would be, I know in my heart that this is also just an unusually long, cold winter. So, I have set out to find contentedness where I am. Here and now. I will...
Whether The Weather
Get out and play!
Bundle up and make it fun.
Encourage puddle jumping and independent play.
As well as hitching rides and strengthening bonds.
Enjoy the dreams that have already come true.
And remember that it even the smallest step,
is an important part of the journey...
Don't be afraid to take that step... or waddle :)
Cultivate the garden of my heart and bloom where I am.
Here and now.
(and of course the day after I wrote this--yesterday--we were hit with a heavy snow and babies with bad colds... hurry warm weather!)

DeleteCome on south! We'd love to have you!
ReplyDeleteMaybe someday...
DeleteThank you so much for hosting. I am really enjoying your blog. I'm sharing about some new crayons I made from broken crayons and lip balm tubes.
ReplyDeleteI totally feel you on the yearning for spring. Winter has seemed so long this year and it's really affecting my mood! I often dream of moving to a warmer climate where I can garden year round. How fabulous that would be! :)
ReplyDeleteFun stuff here. We're ready for warmth, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you for featuring our Rainbow Binoculars! And as always, thanks for hosting :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteI can so relate to how you feel. I grew up in Sweden and I was always fed up with the cold about this time.
What I'm sharing this week..Most children are not drinking enough water and it makes them irritable and have a hard time focusing. Many times when children say they are hungry they are actually thirsty. I'm also sharing a post about pregnancy and aromatherapy. Essential oils can be very beneficial in pregnancy but it is important to know what oils are suitable to use. Many oils are contraindicated in pregnancy so it is best to be safe. We love superfoods in our house, and luckily there are some that most kids will love..
Have a wonderful week!
What lovely photos, I too am SO ready for Winter to be over! x
ReplyDeleteWell Spring has definitely arrived in Cornwall today! I agree wholeheartedly that wrapped up armed with wellies you have to make the effort to get outdoors and enjoy what nature has to offer. Thanks for linking your great blog to Country kids.
ReplyDeletelove the colour mixing. We leave near the beach and rarely get snow ( sadly) The binoculars are great.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the three of you, with the eyes just peering over the top of your arm, so sweet.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, it is a challenge to get out during the cold months with little ones. My youngest is just approaching 4 months and I wear her when my son is with us. I always worry if she is warm enough and is it worth if for just 20 -30 mins outside but on the occasions when I do get out, my son is happy. Its wise to make the effort.
ReplyDeleteI also can't wait for the warmer weather, makes it so much easier to get outside, thanks for stopping by the outdoor play party
