Crafting Along With needle and thREAD

Last evening, the crafting bug bit me. So after Bunny was snoozing happily, I sewed her up a little surprise!

I think she likes it!

Pretty sure her baby (which is one of my old American Girl twins) and her "gnomie" do too!

I have been soaking up this amazing magazine!

The Birth Circle

I am so excited to write about The Birth Circle. I have been wanting be a part of something like this for a very long time. I know what an amazing resource this would have been for me when I was pregnant with Bunny, and as a first time mama. But alas, my little town, and even surrounding towns, had nothing like this to offer...

Until now!

Almost two years after WV Friends of Midwives first presented the idea,

it has finally become it a reality!

The Birth Circle of Central West Virginia

A discussion and support group for pregnant couples, parents, and grandparents.

Join us the second Saturday of every month

at the Louis Bennett Library in Weston

From 10:30 am to 12:00 pm

Come find support and fellowship!

Meet mamas!

Make new friends!

We will discuss various topics each month such as birthing options, breastfeeding, positive parenting, attachment parenting, cloth diapering, baby wearing, as well as other topics close to our hearts.

All Year Round Blog Carnival: Autumn: October 21st

It is so much fun to co-host the Autumn Edition of the All Year Round Blog Carnival, hosted by SunnyDayTodayMama. Every day new ideas, crafts, recipes are being added to the list! Each week, I hope to highlight a few of my favorite ideas!

I was instantly attracted to the cute brown paper bags that Little Homeschool Blessings used for her Fall Picnic! I think our playschool children would love a little picnic like this!

Momma's Fun World had a sweet apple project that is definitely getting pinned for future use!

Little Wonders' Days shared a Web Hunt Walk... what a great addition to a spider study!!

We love all things lavender around here, so For What It's Worth's Lavendar Pecan Cookies sure sound good to us! (of course we will have to buy pecans since we are not blessed with them growing here!)

Simple and Joyful's Discovering Seeds post sooo reminds me of my childhood homeschooling days. We would take fall walks looking for various seed pods to break apart, toss in the air and yell "seed dispersal"! Our favorites were milkweed pods... what fun! What playful learning!

An Enchanted Childhood Playschool ~ October 15th-19th ~ Fall

This week we FINALLY began our fall books and activities! We read When The Leaf Blew In.

During Creative Time the children used foam cut outs and decorated a fall tree.

Afterward they painted the wooden leaves that we use at TableTime and for counting.

They were happy to be doing work for their "school".

The following day, after Circle and TableTime, we headed outside to play in the beautiful fall sun!

Wednesday we read a new book...
Count Down to Fall

And then headed outside for a "leaf collecting" walk and some fun fall play!

Later, at lunch time, we categorized the leaves we had collected on our walk and then made these leaf pictures.

All through the week, we sang our favorite fall song:

The leaves are falling down.

Red and yellow,

Orange and brown.

The leaves are falling down.

(sang to the tune of "The Farmer in the Dell")

Friday, we had short Table and Circle Times and hurried outside. We had bought several of these wooden "helicopters" and the children got to try them out!
