An Enchanted Childhood Playschool ~ October 8th-12th

We are winding down our Eric Carle book study!  This week, we read Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See? Board Book (World of Eric Carle)

After reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear,  we made "torn paper" collages.  The "big kids" were allowed to use their very own glue stick!

Another day, the children used Q Tips to paint bear cut-outs, which we turned into puppets!

In addition, we read this gorgeous book: Goldilocks and the Three Bears !!

Nothing beats a sunny fall day for making discoveries...

a bird nest.

Any fairies at home?

A walk down the road!

And around to Poppaw John's garden...

...where he showed the children a gift he has growing for them.... more kale and more carrots.  How exciting that just when everything else in the garden has been harvested and the leftover plants recently wilted by Jack Frost, we have new plants growing under the homemade hoop house!
We will have fresh veggies in November... how blessed are we!!!

Crafting Along With needle and thREAD

This week I have begun working on Halloween costumes for the girls.
Squirrely is going to be a... You guessed it! A squirrel!

I started with a grey sweat jacket.

Got some minky and cut out a tail...

Then pinned and sewed it together...

Turned it and stuffed it...

Attached the tail to the jacket...

Hand sewed the top...

Added some ears to the hood...

TADA!

Grey Squirrel, Grey Squirrel, shake your bushy tail!

This week and for the next several weeks, I will be reading Real Moms... Real Jesus, by Jill Savage, for the Young Mamas' Life Group through our church. My mama is the leader. We meet each Saturday morning, at my parents' home, for fellowship, our lesson, and snacks, while the children run amuck.

Wonderfull (Full of Wonder) Wednesday

"Just before the death of flowers,
And before they are buried in snow,
There comes a festival season
When nature is all aglow."

Wild And Crazy Time

A big problem we used to have was how to let the children burn off energy,
as well as get some exercise, on days when the weather doesn't let us get outside.
After a lot of trial and error, we have come up with a little wild and crazy (aka: Exercise) time.
About 15 minutes before lunch time, we put all the toys away and just move.

We run, spin, and jump...

We balance and dance...

Then yoga starts and we all have a mat to stand/sit on.
We tickle our toes...

We reach for the sun, moon, and stars...

Tree pose...

Downward facing dog...

Cat stretches...

Super hero stretch...
(the one year olds are mostly just spectators)

Lotus flower...

Deep breathing...

And much more!
We are always adding in new things to make this time more effective.

What is your favorite yoga pose?

Oh, The Adventures to Come!

After many months of researching and comparing options.  Then several more months of scouring the classifieds. We finally found the perfect (well, perfect for us anyway) pop up camper on Craig's List.

A 1974 Apache Ramada
Vintage, Baby!

I saw the ad and called the guy right away. He was really nice
and told me all about buying the camper and fixing it up.

Dad and The Hubs drove up the next day to get it.
(Thanks again, Dad!)

As soon as The Hubs called and said they were on their way home with it,
I started prepping Bunny.  We looked at pics online (she picked out what bed she wanted to sleep in) and talked about going camping.

There is still a lot of little things to be fixed.
We are hoping to work on it slowly and have it in tip top condition the spring.
I do love a good project.

We are all pretty excited about the prospective adventures that lay ahead.

Stay tuned for camper updates...

The All Year Round Blog Carnival: Autumn: October 7th

sunnydaytodaymama

It is so much fun to co-host the Autumn Edition of the All Year Round Blog Carnival, hosted by SunnyDayTodayMama.  Every day new ideas, crafts, recipes are being added to the list! Each week, I hope to highlight a few of my favorite ideas!

We have made lanterns like this in the past so I was really drawn to One Sweet Life's Fall Lanterns!
I am inspired to make them again soon!

What Do We Do All Day made some great pumpkin prints.  We have several little pumpkins and I bet the playschool children would love this activity!

Simple and Joyful has some adorable Leaf Print Flags that I am longing to make!
They make a very cute fall banner!

Simple and Joyful also made Waxed Fall Leaves!
We have made these with beeswax in the past, but never strung them into a garland... very nice!
The baby in the ring sling is very sweet too!

My last feature for this week is Blackberry Playdough by Rainy Day Mum!
We have painted with blackberry juice, so I think the children would love this too!

Be sure to check out the entire Autumn Carnival.  You will be inspired, I promise!
Then come back and link up your creations, activities, books, whatever fall ideas you enjoy!
You will always find my link up at the top of my blog, titled
