Crafting Along With needle and thREAD

Last night, Bunny informed me she needed another pair of pajama pants! And they had to be pink. So I drug out all my flannel stash and she picked the pink John Deere fabric (her Pap has a John Deere tractor, so she is quite familar with the logo and name). She pulled her little chair right up next to me and helped me... by decorating my sewing machine with stickers.  I will need to fix the elastic in the pants (it got twisted) because.. ahem, I  made these as quickly as possible since I had such good help!

As for reading.... we have been doing a lot of that. It is a good way to give Bunny attention while nursing Squirrely.  In this picture, we are reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

And just because I can not resist... I am sharing some deliciousness!

nine days old and perfect.

Eight Days In

It is hard to believe that it has already been over a week since Squirrely joined our little family. Yet at the same time, it feels like she was here all along. The babymoon is going quite well. I am healing quickly, and feel so much better than I did after having Bunny. Mama has taken two weeks off of work to help me out (she is awesome like that) since The Hubs could only take off one day, and we are having a great time. A little organizing and cleaning. A little laundry and diaper changing. A little playing with Bunny and baby holding and so on and so forth.

I am happy to report that after only one horrible night (so far) where I thought I had ruined her life, only to discover the next day that she is cutting her two year old molars, Bunny is adjusting quite well. She thinks Squirrley is her baby and doesn't understand why she can't just pick her up and carry her around. We are still working on being gentle, but overall they are bonding quite nicely. They played together for the first time today. Bunny tried to give Squirrely on of her toys, but since Squirrley can't hold toys yet, Bunny just held it up for her to see. Tandem nursing is also going well. I have Bunny convinced that the left side is baby milk and she doesn't want it. This way I can be sure that Squirrely is getting enough. Squirrley also drinks from the right side in between when Bunny does.

The Hubs is being amazing. After that horrible night, we had a talk about how we want life to go. And how we are really going to have to pull together and help each other if we want things to work smoothly. He and I decided to use this babymoon time to get back on track. Somewhere between being nine months pregnant and working full time and having a two year old etc. etc., things seem to have gotten away from us a little. We now have a new budget and meal plan that will hopefully work well for our new life with two littles. We have some big plans in the make. For now, we are just soaking up every minute of our little family.

I am slowly compiling Squirrley's birth story. That will hopefully come soon.

Crafting Along with needle and thREAD (a few days late)

Sunday, I decided I better put together a little gift for the soon-to-be Big Sister.  I decided the theme Fairy Big Sister was cute and ran with it. I bought pink fairy wings, a fairy puzzle, two fairy books, and a pink Eos lippy kissy (as Bunny calls lip balm). I had already bought some sweet fairy flannel, so Monday afternoon I made her a pair Fairy Big Sister pajama pants!

Monday night I went into labor and she became a Fairy Big Sister in the early hours of Tuesday morning!  So of course my greatest creative work of the week is this lovely sweetness!

How To Tuesday: Tie-Dyed Jean Shorts

I first saw this idea on pinterest. Then a friend of mine on facebook made some for her and her little sister, and I couldn't help myself. I simply had to make some awesome tie-dyed jean shorts for Bunny.

Supplies: Old jeans, scissors, trash bag, dye

Spread the trash bag out to protect your workspace.

Lop off your jeans into shorts.
I left these about knee length.

Dye your shorts with whatever method you choose.
Bunny and Monkey helped, but I forgot to take pictures (boo).

You just spray and allow it to air dry, them tumble them in you dryer to set the color.

Once dry, we rolled up the bottoms.

See! So cute on her two year old butt!
