Extended Breastfeeding

I am very much enjoying nursing Bunny (who turned two on April 5th) these days. We have such a good nursing relationship. She is very polite about it and asks, "I please have nursies?" If I am right in the middle of something, and try to put her off until later, she comes back with, "Just a diddle (little) bit?" Though there are times she has to wait, I am a sucker for her smooth talk. I can usually find the time to sit down and snuggle for a few minutes. I love talking to her while she nurses. I love when she answers my questions with her mouth full of sweet milk, and then giggles because she knows what I am up to. I ask her what it tastes like. She tells me, "Milk!"

Bunny typically nurses for about 1-5 minutes depending on the situation. The other day she had nursed for a few minutes and I told her the nursies needed a break and that I had to go clean up the kitchen now. She looked deep into my eyes and with a pouty lip said, "I miss nursies all day!" I assured her she could nurse again in a little while, and she climbed off my lap and went to play happily. She is a very reasonable two year old.

Our night time nursing adventures have come to an end. Bunny nurses to sleep, and not again until her papa's alarm goes off around 5:00am. Every now and then she wakes up and asks to, but I just tell her that the nursies are sleeping and she can have some in the morning. Then she rubs my lips (her other source of comfort) and dozes back off to sleep.

It has always been my goal to nurse Bunny until she was at least two. Even though I have reached my goal, I have no plans to wean her anytime soon. I figure as long as we are both happy with our nursing relationship, there is no need to end it.

An Enchanted Childhood Playschool ~ April 30th ~ May 4th ~ Cinco de Mayo

We have been asked many times to write up our "lesson plans" so others could use them.  Honestly, we just spend a little time thinking about how we want the "school year" to look and go from there.  We wing-it a lot, doing impromptu things that add to our plans.  I am always amazed that anyone would think what we do is worthy of writing down for others to read, but here it goes!

Now that our Alphabet Journey is over and spring has definitely sprung, you will see much less pre- planned inside activities and much more spontaneous outside fun!

This week we took many nature walks.  The Little Ones enjoyed climbing Two Tree Mountain and sliding down Two Tree Mt MudSlide (yes! we name every path and every landmark lol) They went on a hunt for centipedes and other interesting pieces of nature!

Another day, we went on a walk run around to PoppawJohn's (otherwise know as Mr. McGregor) garden.

 

And on to the Big Creek!!

Friday was rainy, so we did a little "child led" project that worked prefectly for Cinco de Mayo--a Shape Taco!  We reviewed circle, square, triangle, and rectangle.  Using markers to color/decorate our shapes, we then turned them into a Shape Taco.  (Last week when we made our earths with the cardboard, one of the children said "That looks like a taco"! So a new project was invented!) Later we had cheesy quesadillas for snack. Yum!

**We have had people ask about the "matching clothes" the children wear outside.  We decided a couple of years ago to buy tee shirts and sweats (and yardsale swimming trunks for summer) so we weren't always muddying up the little ones' own clothes.. makes everyone much happier!!

Crafting Along With needle and thREAD

Today I am hemming curtains.

Since I am planning to set up my labor/birthing pool in front of the sliding glass door in my kitchen, I figured I should probably hang some curtains first.

I told myself that I wasn't allowed to sew anything else until this is done.

The book I am reading is Sacred Pregnancy by Anni Daulter.

How To Tuesday: Cottontail Cape

Bunny's all time favorite book is Peter Rabbit.

So, when I saw this red wool sweater at GoodWill, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

I lopped off the sleeves

(which I saved for another project).

Then I turned it inside out and sewed up the arm holes.

 

Now Bunny has a cape just like Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail!

She thought she just had to stand on the cape while we took pictures!
